“While coal remains part of the energy mix, it is a marked shift from the coal dependence that Vietnam sees today,” said Chawla. Vietnam pledged to phase out coal power by 2040 at the United Nations climate change conference in Glasgow in 2021 Such projects have offered similar incentives to South Africa and Indonesia. Late last year the Group of Seven advanced economies promised to provide $15.5 billion to help it end its reliance on coal-fired power plants as a part of a Just Energy Transition Partnership or JETP. In July 2022, Vietnam enshrined in law a pledge to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. The continued reliance on fossil fuels and burning biomass such as rice husk and residue from sugar cane farms, as well as the switch to build new infrastructure for gas-powered plants, has experts worried. While Vietnam’s new energy plan mandates that no new coal-fired power plants will be built after 2030 as the country transitions to cleaner fuels, total generation capacity from coal power will still rise by 2030, contributing some 20% of total energy production - down from the current 30.8%.īy 2050, Vietnam will stop using coal for power generation, switching all coal plants to using biomass and ammonia, according to the plan. “This plan showcases Vietnam’s macroeconomic growth ambitions - with robust plans to expand its generation capacity and the associated power sector infrastructure required to cater to the country’s growing energy demand,” said Kanika Chawla chief of staff at Sustainable Energy for All, the United Nations’ sustainable energy unit. It calls for a drastic shift away from heavily-polluting coal, expanding use of domestic gas and imported liquefied natural gas or LNG, which will account for about 25% of total generating capacity, while hydropower, wind, solar and other renewable sources will account for nearly 50% by 2030. That’s more than the capacity of developed countries like France and Italy, though well below Japan’s 290 GW. The national energy plan, called Power Development Plan 8 or PDP8, aims to more than double the maximum power Vietnam can generate to some 150 gigawatts by 2030. “It is a big headache for us,” said Nguyen Thanh Tam, deputy director of Hoa Long printing company in Hanoi. Amid severe drought, two out of the three largest hydroelectric reservoirs in Vietnam have almost completely stopped operating. Streetlights have been turned off in some major cities and businesses have been told to cut energy use. JAKARTA, Indonesia > Power outages are leaving Vietnamese homes and businesses without power for hours at a time, as a prolonged drought and high temperatures strain the fast-growing economy’s capacity to keep up.Ī long-anticipated plan meant to fix the energy crunch and help achieve ambitious climate change goals will offer some relief but may not go far enough in weaning the country off of fossil fuels, experts say.

In the real world, other factors come in to play, like level of physical activity and whether you run hot or cold. That can be helpful in some ways, but you should know that these ratings are based on lab-controlled environments. /rebates/2fa2fbest-puffer-coat-men&. (You can think of this like comparing wattages between LED bulbs and incandescent bulbs.) Sometimes you'll get a temperature rating that will tell you how cold the jacket is rated for. Some brands will label their jackets with a ‘down fill equivalent’ to approximate the level of warmth to the more conventional system. Because there are so many different materials used as down alternatives, each one has different insulating properties which don't often translate directly to a down fill power rating. While friendlier options are welcomed, it also makes the rating system more confusing. Down alternatives, like recycled polyester and natural kapok, have become increasingly popular among more earth-conscious and animal-welfare conscious consumers. But consider the myriad ways to go wrong with a puffer. Some companies make their hoods out of fiberglass, and paint it to look like carbon fiber, but call them carbon fiber hoods (but of course, they are just a carbon look, not actual carbon fiber). Some manufacturers make the hood skin out of carbon, and make the skeleton out of fiberglass. This is rare since carbon is an expensive material. Some companies make the entire hood (skin and skeleton) out of carbon. Q: Are there different "grades" or qualities of carbon fiber hoods? A: Yes. Nevertheless, hood pins are recommended for use with all carbon fiber hoods. Little to no modification is needed to get these to fit properly, and they often come with OEM metal latches for an easy installation. Q: How do you install a carbon fiber hood? A: Carbon fiber hoods are usually OEM fit and finish which means un-bolting your factory hood and replacing it with the new lightweight carbon hood. Vented carbon hoods are a great option because they relieve your engine of trapped heat, are lighter weight than factory hoods, and give your car a race car appearance. Additionally, carbon fiber hoods are almost always lighter than factory hoods, so they can help you improve performance. Carbon fiber hoods come with a clear gelcoat that allows you to see the clean weave of the carbon fiber and that makes it so you don't have to paint your hood. Q: Why buy a carbon fiber hood? A: Carbon fiber hoods give cars a fantastic custom race look that is very popular. That being said, we have never heard of any problems running a vented hood as-is, and we've done it ourselves for many years without any issues to speak of. Some customers do get creative and add their own diverters under the hood for a custom solution to the perceived problem, but you would have to figure out how to attach them and whether there's room under the hood in the first place. Should I be concerned about that? Will it be harmful to my vehicle if rain goes through those vents into my engine bay? Is there a way to protect against that from happening? A: Adding guards could potentially defeat the purpose of a vented hood, which is to help cool your engine bay. We always suggest buying hood pins when purchasing any light-weight hood for peace of mind you don't want any chance of your hood flying into your windshield while you're cruising along on the highway! Q: The hood I'm considering buying from Andy's is vented and has openings in it that appear to expose it to rain. If the carbon fiber hood does not come with a latch, hood pins are mandatory to be able to close your hood. (For anyone who really wants to paint a carbon hood, it is indeed possible since the clear coat finish responds well to primer.) Q: Do you have to buy hood pins if you buy a carbon fiber hood? A: Hood pins are not necessary when buying a carbon fiber hood if it comes with an OEM metal latch, but we do recommend them as a safety precaution. Because carbon hoods are made to be installed without painting, they are often a more affordable option than fiberglass or steel hoods after you account for the paint cost. The hood has a clear-coat finish and can literally be installed on your car out of the box. In fact, for a lot of people the whole reason for buying a carbon hood is to get that new-age cutting edge race look. Q: Will I have to paint my carbon fiber hood when I receive it? A: No.
You should also make sure to free up 20 GB of space on your hard drive to accommodate the new operating system. This space is necessary for future updates and new software. The new operating system requires more disk space than macOS Mojave does, and it requires at least 15% of the main hard drive. Requirements for Catalinaīefore installing the beta version of macOS Catalina, make sure you have enough space on your hard drive. In this case, users of 32-bit apps may have to make a fresh installation of the operating system. There are some apps that may not work in the new operating system. This may sound like a hassle, but it is important to remember that there is a way to make a soft transition to Catalina. This means that some of your favorite apps will no longer work. One big drawback of Catalina is that some old 32-bit apps won’t run properly. Ultimately, the new feature is a welcome addition to a Mac-centric operating system. Gatekeeper now scans apps for known security vulnerabilities and new data protections make it more difficult for hackers to access personal documents. Security is a key feature of macOS Catalina. The Sidecar also supports mirroring and extends the Mac display. This new functionality is complemented by Apple Pencil support. The iPad can be used as a display for the Mac. However, it’s important to note that not all of the new features work as advertised. Apple says this improves security by filtering out unnecessary clutter and improving the user experience. Users can browse photos and videos by day, month, or year. MacOS Catalina also features a new Photos app with iPhone-like controls. The system volume is also read-only so that bad software cannot access the system volume. MacOS X now runs on a system volume dedicated to read-only apps. The new OS has many improvements for Mac users, including improved performance and security. While the Mac OS X name was previously MacOS X, the company decided to keep it simple by naming it after a place in California: the Santa Catalina island. The new name comes after a rocky island in southern California. The Mac operating system is getting a new name: Catalina. If you’re considering upgrading to the latest version of macOS, be sure to use a utility app to clear up your computer of junk files. There’s no need to make any final decisions yet – there’s still plenty to enjoy with both. We’ll also cover the system requirements for Catalina and security in the new OS. In this MacOS comparison, we’ll look at what’s new in MacOS Catalina and what’s new in macOS Mojave.
We present a prospective study focusing on the frequency of occurrence and characteristics of PA. In the literature we could find only a retrospective study conducted in pediatric patients, one case series reported in the abstract form to a congress and few case reports. So far there are no systematic studies assessing prospectively in adults i) the prevalence of PA and ii) the clinical characteristics of PA. We feel that a detailed description of the phenotype of the attacks it is important for achieving a more evidence-based nosographic framing of migraine with aura. The term “probable” used in such classification indicates suspicion as to whether the symptom is migraine aura and from our clinical experience we feel it does not help to categorise auras of a longer duration. Those lasting more than 60 min and less than 7 days are classified as ‘probable migraine with aura (prolonged aura)’. Ĭurrently a prolonged non-hemiplegic migraine with aura (NHMA) is classified as ‘persistent aura without infarction’ if the duration is equal or longer than 7 days. However the subsequent two versions of the ICHD removed PA from the classification. The first version of the ICHD included migraine with prolonged aura (PA) and defined it as migraine with one or more aura symptoms lasting more than 60 min and less than a week, occurring in the presence of normal neuroimaging findings. However these symptoms can last longer in a rare subtype of migraine with aura, namely hemiplegic migraine, which is not discussed in this paper. Īll of the first three editions of the International Classification of Headache Disorders (ICHD) have considered the individual symptoms of aura to be typical if the duration is more than five and less than 60 min. Aura comprises completely reversible visual, sensory, or language symptoms (occurring respectively in 98, 36 and 10% of auras). Worldwide migraine is the third most common disorder and around 30% of sufferers experience migraine auras. They do not differ from the other auras (even when their duration extends to 2 and/or 4 h) with the exception of a higher number of non-VS. There is no cure for migraine, but the right treatment can reduce the number of attacks. There is limited literature on prolonged aura (PA - defined as an aura including at least one symptom for > 1 h and 2 h ( n = 23) or > 4 h ( n = 14) with the the others ( n = 193 and n = 202 respectively).Migraine is a type of headache and a recognised medical condition.Talk to your doctor or a neurologist about the best treatment for your migraines. However, this is a highly addictive medication and far more effective treatments are now available. In the past, pethidine was used to treat migraine. non-medication therapies – including acupuncture, biofeedback, goggles, hypnotherapy, exclusion diets, relaxation, yoga, meditation, herbal or homeopathic remedies. preventative treatment – medication taken on a daily basis to reduce the number of attacks.medication – including pain-relieving medication and medication to alter pressure on blood vessels.avoiding the trigger factors – this can be difficult, since migraines are often triggered by a combination of factors. The four treatment options available to migraine sufferers include: Migraines vary greatly from person to person and so does the treatment. There is no cure for migraine and prevention is difficult, but treatments can help reduce the number of attacks. Some studies suggest that reduced levels of the sex hormone oestrogen around the time of menstruation may be to blame. For around half of these women, migraine occurs in the few days prior to or following their menstrual period. Migraines affect more women than men, and some researchers believe that sex hormones play a key role. relaxation (weekend migraines) – often triggered by a period of stress and overwork followed by relaxation.emotional causes – stress, excitement or fatigue.physiochemical – excessive heat, light, noise or certain chemicals. diet – cheese, chocolate, citrus fruits, alcohol (especially red wine). Attacks are almost certainly triggered by a combination of factors, such as: No one really knows what causes migraine, but it may be an inherited condition.
For a trust to be valid it is essential that the final beneficiaries can be identified. If this person is a discretionary beneficiary the beneficiary can only benefit at the trustee’s discretion.Ī final beneficiary is a person who benefits when a trust comes to an end. This means that trust ownership is private information.Ī beneficiary is a person who can benefit from a trust either through receiving capital or income. Registers of property ownership such as the companies office, which records share ownership, and Land Information New Zealand, which records property ownership, are not permitted to show that the owner of property is a trustee. The trustee is the legal owner of the trust property and the legal “face” of the property. The Settlor can also elect a person, who can be the settlor or someone else, who can add and remove trustees and or beneficiaries. These rules are recorded in a document called the deed of trust. This person chooses the initial trustee or trustees, decided who will benefit from the trust and what the trust rules will be. The settlor is the person who settles the trust. That means that a trust that only owns a family home does not need to register with Inland Revenue. A trust is only required to register with Inland Revenue if the trustee earns income. There is no register of discretionary family trusts. The subject matter being considered here is that of a discretionary beneficiary with nothing more than a right to be considered, which is also referred to as an expectancy.Ī reference to a trust is a generic reference to both property owned by the trust and the complex relationships that comprise a trust. The same is the case where a beneficiary is the final beneficiary of a discretionary trust where a named beneficiary might be entitled to share equally in the trust’s remaining property at the end of the trust. Where a trust is a will trust, or a “fixed trust” that provides for beneficiaries to have pre-determined interests in property, for example income for life on $500,000 or my house at 2 Glebe Street the beneficiary’s rights are related to that property interest and as such are stronger and easier to establish and enforce. It is also important to appreciate that the information provided here is in the context of a discretionary beneficiary who has no fixed rights, other than a right to be considered. It is for this reason any dealings with a trust are with the trustees not the beneficiaries. The message you need to take from this chapter is that trusts, unlike companies, are not legal entities. Even the experts can’t agree as to exactly what a trust is! If you find this a bit heavy ready, don’t worry. While the trust’s assets are held for the sole benefit of the beneficiaries which beneficiaries can benefit, and to what extent is determined at the trustee’s sole discretion.Īlthough the trustee is the owner of the trust property at law, the trustee can only act for the benefit of the beneficiaries.Įven though the trustee cannot benefit from the trust the trustee is accountable to the beneficiaries for any loss. It is from these obligations that the beneficiaries derive their rights. The existence of these obligations are fundamental to a valid trust. Most importantly, as well as owning the property, the trustee also owes certain obligations to the beneficiaries. However, the trustee cannot benefit from the property (unless the trustee is also a beneficiary). The trustee is the legal owner of the property subject to the trust. However, it is widely accepted that in its simplest form a trust is property that is owned by a trustee for the benefit of a beneficiary or beneficiaries. There is no legal or singularly accepted definition of what a trust is. To understand what it is to be a beneficiary, it is necessary to have an understanding of what a trust is. The purpose of this commentary is to provide a simply written and easy to understand explanation of what it is to be a beneficiary of a discretionary trust and what rights a beneficiary has in respect of a discretionary trust. However, the majority of people who can benefit from these trusts either do not know about the trust, or about their rights in respect of the trusts. These trusts control assets worth billions of dollars. It is generally accepted that New Zealand has more formally settled discretionary trusts per head of capita than anywhere else in the world. |
